At Scriprovise, we know that improv creates an open door to saying 'yes'... AND. 

We wholeheartedly believe that one improv session can do weeks worth of inspiration-searching for writing, and vice versa. Both disciplines fuel each other, and somewhere in between we find an essential discipline that is so often overlooked – direction. 

Before imagination, thought, or even discussion, are brought into light, we experience a visualization “pre” step, where our ideas are first planted, before they begin to take root. Not out loud or on paper, but in our minds. As writers, we are all too often in our own heads, in our characters' heads, acting as our own worst critic. As performers, we are forever in the limelight, judged, adored, and criticized, with less emphasis on internal dialogues outside of our story or character POV.

 The bottom line is:  thoughts and imagination lead to action, whether physical (i.e. acting in a youtube sketch) or nonverbal (i.e. writing a short scene). The most important and most often overlooked function to bringing our ideas to life is routine. Routine and repetition are essential to our growth and development as artists, which is just one of the many perks to becoming a program member at Scriprovise.
